Fourth of July

On July 4 we celebrated the American Independence day and it was also the day of friendship of the Americans and Filipinos. Many people joined the parade and I saw a big horse, cowboys and many soldiers that were wearing different uniforms. At 11:00 in the morning we presented the Tinikling dance of the Philippines. After that we taught people how to do the dance and we also taught them how to cook Chicken Adobo. At 9:15 in the evening we went to the 14th floor to watch the fireworks. It was very beautiful with the many different colors and I was very happy because this was my first time to see such very big fireworks. We also learned many different types of culture. We enjoyed dancing and singing with the different countries like Columbia, Mali, Guatemala, Ukraine, Peru, Morocco etc. and I was very excited to dance- by Roberto

Days off from the Festival

The last two days were off days. After 5 days of the festival we were tired and ready for the break.

Pool Party
We went to swimming sa bahay ng auntie ni ate leah sa vienna nag metro kami papunta doon, they were very nice may volleyball at basketball cuort pa sila doon, nagvolleyball pa kami sa loob ng pool nila tapos ang dami pang pagkain merong burger, melon, chicken, hotdog at madami pa,we play also a ballon with water inside, ang saya talaga nagenjoy talaga kaming lahat, at talagang ang ganda ng pakikitungo ng relatives ni ate leah sa aming lahat.

Meeting with the Filipinos
Today we met Filipinos here in US and they entertain us in their house at Virginia. How sweet they are because we welcomed us and we talked with each other. After a while we have a short journey on the mall and we buy some pasalubong for just one dollar each item. And the best thing is when we ate at the POPEYE...WOW!!!! We ate a lot of foods.. ok I will describe... 2 each pieces of fried chicken, half litter of orange juice, unlimitted pala! Then french fries, cabbage salad and doughnut..hm...ANG SARAP.... How sweet they are kasi talagang nagtreat sila for us..thanks for them for sharing their time for us.
We are starting to get to know the other participants better.  Here we are playing music with a musician from Belize and the participants from Ukraine were there too.  They were dressed in their costumes for their show.

The rain was nakakatakot dahil sobrang lakas and it was very sudden. We ran to the nearest museum to take shelter.

5 Festival Days Finished and 2 Days Off- Ye-hey!

We finished our first five days of the festival. It was a success and we had a lot of interest from the crowds and we have many fans.  Dancing two shows a day was hard, but   we know they liked our dance because they were smiling and happy to watch us and then want to try the Tinikling. It was hard to teach them because it was hot, we were tired from the dance and there were so many people lined up to try. They were O.K at dancing. Some people fell and some could not follow the tempo or steps. There were others who had already tried the dance in their schools and did the dance well.

We also help at the Kids Corps tent. We teach kids Filipino games like planting rice. The kids are naughty because they don't always follow our directions. Even though, they are still happy and like our games. Adults even try the plating rice game! We are very busy teaching games, dancing and sharing cooking, but we keep trying. The rain was nakakatakot dahil sobrang lakas and it was very sudden. We ran to the nearest museum to take shelter.
