Eating at the Hotel

Some of us like all of the food while some of us only like a little.  They have rice everyday, but a lot of other flavors we are not use to.  We have fun eating with each other and new friends.

Aunt Judy treated us to a great evening in Maryland. We drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. We saw sea gulls, and we ate crabs, corn, shrimp, and fried chicken. We ended the night with GIANT ice cream cones. Everyone was full and happy. Maraming Salamat Aunt Judy!!!!

The Peace Corps office in Manila was a huge support in the preparation for our trip, and before we left, they threw us a going-away party. The dancers performed in the volunteer resource room and enjoyed a gourmet merienda before leaving for DC.

The pics below were taken during the event.

Day 3 Alvin

Today we went to the Museum of Natural History I saw many bones like Dinasores and many animals like Girrafes and Elephants. I played planting rice with a lot of people who wanted to play Filipino games. Me and Roberto with Jan carlo demonstrated how to play planting rice. And Jeffrey, Crystalyn, Shiena were in the cooking home. And Jenny Rose, Ermalyn were on the Peace Corps porch for interviews.

Right now everyone is swimming in the hotel pool. - Alvin

The very first presentation at the festival was a success!  The visitors were very interested in learning how to cook  Chicken Adobo.

The results....

Festival Update Day 2

The festival started with the orientation on the 29th day of June 2011 at the national mall and we will perform the tinikling at the world stage. After the orientation we fixed all our products to sell at the market place, we checked them if it is reject or not and we counted them and separate them according to their price.
On the 30th day we perform the Tinikling Dance at the world stage at 2:00-3:00 in the afternoon. We perform the dance with our full effort to show to all of them that we are proud to represent the Phillippines.
After performing the dance they are so happy by expressing in clapping and they want to watch it again so we perform the dance twice. We're shock because many of them want to learn so we teach those people who want to learn the dance. We need to teach all of them in a nice way so that they will learn from us. All of us teach the dance even the clappers because many of them want to learn adults, young adults, teen agers and most of them are children and we do a lot of effort.
TO BE CONTINUED...

Tikling Birds Take Off

The RCHI Tinikling dance team arrived in the US today.  Their flight out of Manila was cancelled, so half of the group traveled through Atlanta and the other half arrived in Seattle.

Note from Tom -  I am with the Seattle group, and we passed through customs without incident.  We will reunite tonight in DC! Jet lag is a new experience for all of them, and as I write this, I am surrounded by sleeping dancers waiting for the last leg of our journey to begin boarding.
